I would like to welcome you to the Mountain Wind website. I hope you will take the time to explore the many resources that we offer. Among other resources, we offer articles, exercises, research, books, and audios on the relationship of breathing to health, well-being, and spiritual growth. We offer articles and practices on self-knowledge and self-transformation from the standpoint of Gurdjieff, Taoism, Advaita, and other disciplines and traditions. And we offer Internet links to informative sites on alternative health, breathing, Gurdjieff, Taoism, consciousness, and self-transformation.
As you will see, at Mountain Wind we are interested in both health and wholeness. Indeed, it is our belief that real health depends on wholeness. To be healthy means to make contact with the whole of ourselves, no matter how disruptive that experience may be to our ego or self-image. To be healthy means to see and question the hidden assumptions that underlie our thoughts and actions. To be healthy means to find a quality of thinking, feeling, and sensing that includes instead of excluding, that welcomes the diversity of life instead of closing down around narrow beliefs and opinions. To be healthy means to be able to face the unknown both inside and outside of ourselves. To be healthy means to be open now and here to the unfathomable mystery and miracle that underlies our existence and every breath we take.
The great spiritual pathfinder G. I. Gurdjieff asserts that we are "asleep," that we live our lives as sleepwalkers. Anyone who learns the art and science of inner listening, of self-observation, has no choice but to agree. Not only are we asleep, but we have lost touch with our own real potential, or own essence, as human beings on this earth.
It is my hope that the ideas, methods, publications and other tools discussed here on our website, especially those related to breath and consciousness, can serve as a helpful reminder for some of the central issues involved in real health and wholeness.
We also hope that you will join our mailing list. Just click on the "Join Our Mailing List" link on the left frame, then send the automatically addressed blank message (you do not need to give us your name or any other information). We will notify you about new articles, developments, products, classes, and other resources available through Mountain Wind.
We welcome your feedback.
